About Our Program:
The Camp Shaw Counselor In Training Program is designed to take our young teens and transform them into phenomenal camp staff members. Our intentional leadership development curriculum will give you all the tools necessary to be the best counselor you can be!
Our CIT 1 program will introduce you to the roles and responsibilities of a camp counselor. We will primarily work on team building, leadership skills, and self discovery.
Upon successful completion of the CIT 1 program, you may take the CIT 2 program. CIT 2s will be placed in a cabin with a veteran counselor and will perform (with supervision) some staff responsibilities. Upon completion of the CIT 2 program, your performance during the week will determine your involvement with camp for the remainder of the summer. CITs will be given a rating based on the scale below:
3 – CIT is ready to work as a support counselor for the rest of the summer, while continuing to grow into the counselor role.
2 – CIT may work as kitchen staff for the rest of the summer, while still having opportunities to work with campers. CIT may receive additional cabin counselor responsibilities as the summer progresses.
1 – CIT is not ready to work at camp for the rest of the summer. CIT may be considered for a role the next summer upon the Director’s discretion.

Daily Schedule
Please remember we will not begin check-in early as camp staff need to prepare for the week and are busy getting ready for your camper prior to 2 pm. Please include all adults that may pick your camper up on the Authorized Pickup form and remind them to bring a picture ID to present at the pick-up station.
Please also note: We expect our CITs to be role models for all other campers. To that end, it is extremely important that CIT candidates NOT bring electronic devices to camp. As with all campers, electronic devices that are brought to camp will be taken from campers and stored in the office safe until parent arrival. CITs who are found to have electronic devices or other prohibited items in their possession will not successfully complete the CIT program. CITs who drive themselves to camp can turn in their cell phone and car keys upon arrival, and obtain them when their session is complete.
