The Camp Shaw-Waw-Nas-See staff, and Board of Directors, feels it is very important to acknowledge the native people who lived on the land that is now our Camp, named for the Potawatomi leader Shaw-Waw-Nas-See. For thousands of years they raised their families and kept their traditions on this land. As current inhabitants of this Camp, it is our responsibility to understand those who came before us and their continuing ties to this place. They are among us still, as descendants of Shaw-Waw-Nas-See and his village. We are thankful for the Potawatomi Nation, their history and their love for the land that we continue to enjoy.
