Hi, I’m Cookie (Nonnie Scorzo), and I’m so excited to be your camp director!  I was a camper at Camp Shaw in the 70’s and a counselor after that.  I was a staff member in 1982, 1983, 1984 and 1987. I worked in the Barn and in Arts and Crafts.  I have been a volunteer for many years, and I have been serving on the Board of Directors for several years.  I have been in a leadership role for the Draw Downs and the 75th anniversary celebration.  My daughter, Ring, was a camper and a counselor and then became a staff member. I have another daughter, Amy, as well.  My love for Camp Shaw runs deep, and I love passing on the traditions and experiences of Camp to new and returning campers and staff.  The friendships I have made at Camp, like with Squirt, are life long and the people make Camp such a special place!

I was an elementary school teacher for 35 years and am now retired.  I have a Master’s degree in Outdoor Teacher Education from NIU, and I love teaching about the environment.  I also love animals and have owned a snake, a tarantula and a turtle and several dogs.

Please reach out to me if you have any questions and if I can help you in any way!
