Summer is nearly here! We’ve almost made it. Between the (somewhat) consistently warm weather, the final touches being put in the butterfly garden, and our staff beginning to move in we can tell that camp is right around the corner.

And we are very excited because this year Camp Shaw has a new adventure waiting for our campers who love a little thrill and a lot of fun. Introducing: Tree Climbing!

TreeBlog1
Campers 12 years of age and older will get strapped into a harness and learn how to make there way up our tree with their foot rope and a magic knot to get a new perspective on our beautiful Camp Shaw. Guy, the Founder and Director of Adventure Tree has been with us at camp getting our staff, and our tree, ready for this new activity. Timber, Sarg(e), and Othello trained all week and gained certification to direct recreational tree climbing and will be leading the activity here at camp.

TreeBlog5Our Tree Climbing adventure will not only teach our campers new rope climbing skills, knot tying technique, and the importance of safety precautions but it will also be a way for them to overcome their fears, learn to trust themselves, and realize the joy that comes with overcoming challenges. This is an extremely rewarding experience that gives our campers an opportunity to set and achieve goals while having a blast and learning a new skill.

TreeBlog3The staff has had so much fun this week practicing making the climb and enjoying Rock Creek from a new angle. We know that our campers are just going to love this new opportunity for adventure here at Camp Shaw. And the view is extraordinary..

TreeBlog2Come see for yourself! Camp starts in just 16 days and we hope that you’ll be joining us! If you’re not already signed up, there is still time to register for one of our sessions. Check out more information on our home page.
